Monitoring gifted and talented provision
When students have been identified as gifted and talented, the school needs to ensure the progress of each individual is tracked and monitored, and that there is an appropriate teaching and learning programme in place.
This can be achieved through:
- regular meetings with the individuals concerned
- target setting and ensuring students understand the criteria for success.
Parents need to be informed of their child's inclusion on the register and schools are expected to manage the expectations and anxieties of parents who may be unsure what this means for their child. The G&T Coordinator should manage the liaising process with parents and also inform and involve them in providing support and appropriate opportunities.
