Take Me Seriously
Persuasive and critical thinking skills for KS3 and KS4
This course combines the theory and principles of effective gifted and talented provision with practical demonstrations of how to apply this in the classroom.
Course outline
- How to create stretch and challenge in the classroom.
- Take Me Seriously (part 1) – put your student hat on and experience how this ready-made course promotes critical thinking, creativity and persuasive skills. You are a celebrity PR agent. Your client wants to raise their profile by becoming an ambassador for a worthy cause – can you persuade a charity to take them on?
- How to encourage higher order thinking and questioning.
- Take Me Seriously (part 2) – develop your team's pitch. Will it get your client the job? Share your ideas and reflect on the experience.
- Putting it into practice – discuss and plan how you can adapt and implement Take Me Seriously in your school.
Optional follow-up
Bring your students to a showcase workshop and share findings with other teachers.
