Key stage 4–5 media studies students.
Purpose
This resource on media literacy is designed for key stage 4 or 5 students. It introduces the students to the theories of semiotics and provides the tools necessary for reading media.
Content
There are nine key areas to explore covering concepts such as:
- How context affects meaning.
- Designing newspaper front pages and writing scripts.
- How meaning is contested and shifts over time.
- The idea of language as an internally referential system.
